Las Vegas—The New York-based Divine Performing Arts played its final Chinese New Year Spectacular show in Las Vegas last Monday, receiving warm applause from an appreciative audience.
"It was very beautiful. I was impressed — very impressed with it," said Mattie Trimble, showroom manager of the Hilton Theatre where the spectacular performed.
Trimble said she was particularly interested in the performance "Descent of the Celestial Kings."
"Actually I was very impressed with the opening act when they came up with all the fog and blue – it was spectacular. It was one of the best productions I have seen in a long time."
"As far as the production, the performance, and the dancing, and these costumes – most definitely the costumes — everything was really great," Trimble added.
She said she was very impressed both with the colorful animated 3D backdrops with the live orchestra, commenting, "I have never seen a Chinese performance with that big of an orchestra."
After watching the Spectacular, Trimble said she understood the concept of predestined relationship in eastern culture, which prompted her to ponder the question of how and why people come to this world.
Divine Performing Arts has been spearheading a renaissance of Chinese traditional culture that has drawn the attention and admiration of audiences around the world.
On its ambitious world tour, the dance company will stage 220 shows in over 60 cities spanning four continents — Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America, reaching a total live audience of about 650,000.
