It is a pleasure to send greetings to all those gathered to enjoy the Chinese New Year Spectacular, presented by New Tang Dynasty Television.

Canadians take great pride in their cultural diversity and delight in being able to explore the rich traditions and customs of individual heritages. As the Year of the Rat begins, it is an opportunity to reflect on the year gone by and on the wonderful surprises waiting for us in the year ahead. This gala will ensure that Chinese Canadians of all ages can remember their past and celebrate their ancestry, keeping a strong connection alive for today's youth and for future generations.

It is always a pleasure to see people reaffirming their heritage and I commend the organizers for bringing people together to share their traditions with all Canadians, and I wish everyone an enjoyable celebration.
