Influential Queenslanders Enamoured with International Splendour

Brisbane's finest will not be the same after the premier night of the NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular. Politicians rubbed shoulders with heads of churches, while leaders of the many ethnic communities of Brisbane were abuzz.
All agreed that the Spectacular was an extraordinary performance, something they had never quite experienced.
"It was pretty impressive," Senator Andrew Bartlett of the Australian Democrats said: "It had embraced wider themes – all the scenes told different stories."
Although unfamiliar with Chinese music, the Queensland senator said he had particularly enjoyed the erhu section of the show and the earlier singing of soprano Min Jiang.
Queensland spokesperson for the Australian Greens Party, Drew Hutton, said he had never seen so many beautiful women in the one place at the one time.
"It was inspiring, breathtaking, absolutely beautiful," Mr Hutton said as he struggled to find the right words.

Anglican Archbishop of Brisbane Philip Aspinall said he had been "struck" by the show. "It was very beautiful," he said. "I felt there was a meditative quality to the dances and music."
When asked about the scenes of spiritual persecution in the show, Archbishop Aspinall said: "The Falun Gong dance was very dramatically done.
"The way the innocence was portrayed and the menacing overbearing presence of the persecutors was very effective."

The publisher of the Indian Times in Queensland, Umesh Chandra's comments seem to encapsulate it all.
"This is something quite extraordinary that we are witnessing here tonight," Mr Chandra said. "We have seen many other shows and they are all right – they are shows.
"This one tonight, the choreography and the way it is presented with the spiritual backing – that is just fabulous.
"You can feel the power and energy behind the show."
