Inspiring audiences in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Canberra and Melbourne, New Tang Dynasty Television's (NTDTV) 2007 Chinese New Year Spectacular has uplifted audiences at Sydney's Capitol Theatre after beginning the final leg of its Australian tour.

The Spectacular performances by the Divine Performing Arts group are exquisite displays of traditional Chinese song and dance long lost in modern times. The pieces on display are also a precious opportunity to gain insight into the profundity of ancient Chinese arts and culture, and its deep spiritual and moral roots.

The Divine Performing Arts group, the main force behind the Spectacular, has its mission to explore and to rediscover the essence of true, traditional culture. Thus it creates and performs pieces that centre primarily around classical themes and divinely-inspired culture. It aims to present to audiences works that express pure goodness and beauty.

Traditional Chinese culture and dance is not always accessible to many in the West as well as to a lot of the younger generation of Chinese people. Being different to Western ballet, Chinese dance places a stronger emphasis on the depth, inner-meaning and detail.

As such, the richness of the pieces in the Spectacular offer something for people of all walks of life and they have moved audiences, and passed on an experience and a message that is unique to each individual.

John Booth, Editor of the Weekly Times multi-award winning newspaper, said the show was "great, very colourful and interesting. I like it very much". He said he enjoyed the Mongolian Bowl Dance and how the variety of the show and the performances were related to different parts of China.

The Honorable David Clarke, Liberal party member and Member of the Legislative Council (M.L.C.) attended the Spectacular with his wife Melissa. He said, "We were just overwhelmed, we thought it was magnificent and spectacular, beautiful display of costume and Chinese culture and Chinese music and dance. Showing the real China the China where culture goes back thousands and thousands of years. So we really enjoyed it and we also thought that there was a message behind it which deals with eternal spirit of mankind and triumph of good over evil."

When questioned about choosing a particular favourite, Mrs Clarke said "it will be very unfair to pick out one piece against all others because they are all magnificent. All the performers were first class, first-rate. We just enjoyed it from the very first number to the very last number. So we congratulate New Tang Dynasty Television for this magnificent performance, magnificent show that is been displayed right around the world. And we welcome them to Australia and thank them from Australia for the great contribution to art and Chinese culture that they perform to us tonight."
