Divine Performing Arts on Tour

ST. LOUIS, Mo—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular made its debut at the Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri on April 30.

The Spectacular's portrayal of China's 5,000-year-old traditional culture Chinese touched the hearts of many overseas Chinese.

Peng Mingsheng, an agricultural biologist who immigrated to the US from Nanjing, China, ten years ago, attended the show with his son.

The Chinese Spectacular premiered in Cleveland, OH on Saturday, May 3rd to an audience of over 2,400 people. Many people were interviewed and asked for their opinions on the show. While their favorite aspects of the show differed from person to person, the general consensus remained the same – The Chinese Spectacular is stunning in every regard.

Trinia Gregory, a professional dancer for 8 years, was blown away by the Chinese Spectacular on May 6 at the Northern Albeta Jubilee Auditorium, Edmonton. "I really like the fact that they brought in the divine consciousness, the spiritual consciousness, the spiritual side. It's very enlightening.

Kryztyna Papp and Mark Campbell were very impressed with the Chinese Spectacular when they saw the show at the Von Braun Concert Hall on Tuesday.Being a dancer she appreciates ‘positive Chinese influence’ in ‘Spectacular.’ I just love what the whole show represents…. Especially right now with the whole Chinese and Tibetan turbulence, I think it's good to see another side.

Suzanne Lacroix, acting regional director for Statistics Canada, has always liked Chinese things, and the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular did not disappoint."I very much enjoyed it. I enjoy Chinese culture very much because my son is half Chinese and I try on occasion,

Edmonton's Jubilee Auditorium welcomed the Spectacular on Monday night and honored the performers with a standing ovation. Lola Bots and Ruth Linecker attended the show together. Bots, who formerly worked in the retail industry, thought it was "absolutely incredible."

Ms. W, who has been in the US for only three months, enthusiastically spoke about her feelings of many acts throughout the Chinese Spectacular."The dancing is very beautiful and fantastic. I really like the dances showing the special characteristics of Chinese ethnicity." 'The Loyalty of Yue Fei' is a well known story and represents a spirit of our nationality – total dedication to one's country," she said.

Among the audience members, Ms. Lei Yang came to the United States in August 2007, and is a Chinese language teacher at Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio."It made Chinese as well as Americans understand the essence of the traditional Chinese culture in a short period of time. I thought the show was very successful. The costume, the music was all very splendid."

"I have grown up watching ballets with my family, mostly women, so they always dragged me to dance shows and ballet shows and I always hated it," Justin Colon said. "But this was by far the most beautiful, unbelievable experience as far as theatrical performances go that I have ever seen."
